Nearly ten percent of the United States population has diabetes. When left untreated or mismanaged, diabetes can result in serious complications and premature death. Our roles as educators is to instruct our patients and give them the necessary tools needed to learn how to make the right lifestyle choices to live a long, enriched life. The Jameson Diabetes Management Program brings diabetes education and support to our community.

Our program offers individual classes by certified diabetes educators, registered nurses, registered dietitians and other consulting members of a multifaceted education instruction team.  We offer a broad range of services, and an active support group in which participants benefit by sharing their experiences. Self-management skills are essential in controlling diabetes.  Through our program, you will acquire the skills necessary to take control and reduce the acute and chronic complications of this chronic disease process.

What You Thought You Knew About Diabetes
…has changed! There are new guidelines to determine if you are “borderline,” meaning you are at risk for developing diabetes.  Also, there is new philosophy for nutritional guidelines and eating habits. We will teach you that reading food labels and counting total carbohydrates, not just sugar, is what affects blood sugar control.  You will learn how to treat yourself to an occasional piece of pie, as well as finding out that  “sugar free” products may still elevate your blood sugar.

We walk you through the learning process to find the right meal plan, fitness schedule and other supports needed to be healthy.   It is also important to note, even if you have had diabetes for several years ,  an update  will  be beneficial.  Your health changes over time ,  utilize the Diabetes Management Program as your health needs change.  Diabetes is a self-management disease process,  on going education  will help you to be healthy!
